Prandelli resigns as coach of Fiorentina
Fiorentina have officially announced that Cesare Prandelli has resigned as Fiorentina coach for ‘reasons that go beyond football’.
Fiorentina’s coach had returned to Artemio Franchi in November last year, but the 63-year-old decided to retire just six months later.
“ACF Fiorentina can confirm that Cesare Prandelli has resigned as Fiorentina coach,” the club wrote in a statement.
Prandelli offered his resignation on Tuesday and – with great sadness – the club has accepted his decision, acknowledging that the reasons behind it go beyond football.
Over the past few months, Prandelli has given his all as coach, once again showing the deep connection that connects him to Fiorentina and the city of Florence.
Sky Sport Italia writes that the coach admitted that his career as a coach could end here.
“I am aware that my coaching career could end here, but I have no regrets,” said Prandelli.
“Perhaps, this world that I have been a part of all my life is no longer for me and I no longer know myself in it. “I have changed, for sure, and the world is moving faster than I thought,” he said.
