Real Madrid is stopped by Getafe, three points behind the leader
Real Madrid has been stopped by a goalless draw by Getafe, taking a step back for the La Liga title, as it now lags three points behind leader Atletico Madrid, allowing Barcelona to move into second place.
Real Madrid traveled to Getafe with eight big absences and escaped defeat thanks to the expectations of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
Coach Zinedine Zidane could not count on the four main defenders nor Casemiro and Toni Kroos for this match.
The absences played a role in this match, as Getafe could have won as if it were not for the heroic expectations of the Belgian goalkeeper of Madrid.
Courtois was chosen the player of the match for his impressive receptions.
While Real Madrid held the ball more in possession, Getafe created almost twice as many chances, as they had 19 shots on the gate, compared to Madrid’s 10.
Real Madrid now collect 67 points in second place, three less than leader Atletico Madrid and two more than Barcelona. The latter has a less developed match.
Getafe, meanwhile, goes to the 31-point quota, four away from the relegation zone from La Liga.
