“Ronaldo is human, he can make mistakes too” Allegri defends the Juventus star
Massimiliano Allegri has come to the defense of his former player, Cristiano Ronaldo, who has faced criticism recently due to Juventus’ failures in the Champions League and Serie A this season.
Allegri, who worked with Ronaldo for a season at Juventus, says he does not understand why people should criticize one of the best footballers in history, who is programmed to win.
The five-time Golden Ball winner was criticized for the disappointing and early elimination of Juventus from the Champions League, after losing to Porto in the 1/8 finals.
Ronaldo did not play well at all in both games against Porto, but Allegri insists that the 36-year-old can not do miracles because he too is a human after all.
“Ronaldo is also a human and can make mistakes, but there are rarely those who can run away from a defender and run towards the goal like him. Ronaldo is programmed to win,” said Allegri.
He added: “He has won five Golden Balls, the Champions League and many other trophies and still motivates himself every day.”
