Solskjaer: Man United need to strengthen to reach the level of Manchester City
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has acknowledged that Manchester United need to strengthen this summer if they want to have any hope of narrowing the gap with rival Manchester City.
United’s 2-1 loss to Leicester City on Tuesday was enough for City to win the Premier League title, with three laps left until the end of the season.
That means City have finished every season over United in the Premier League table since Sir Alex Ferguson left Old Trafford.
Solskjaer admits that without sensational reinforcements in the summer, United will not be able to compete against Pep Guardiola’s impressive squad.
“If you want to challenge them, then you have to strengthen the team. Congratulations to them. They have had a fantastic season. I am very pleased with my boys who managed to stay behind Manchester City, a team that is considered the best in Europe.” said Solskjaer.
“Now we want to take the next step and we will need a couple of reinforcements to strengthen the team.” he added.
