Unlike Ronaldo, Messi decided to vote for the Portuguese and two other players
Lionel Messi has also been officially announced last night by FIFA as the Player of the Year.
The Argentine star snatched ‘The Best’ from the world’s biggest football house, leaving behind Virgil van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo.
It was announced that the Portuguese star had decided to vote for Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong and Kylian Mbappen.
However, despite winning the award, Messi has voted for Sadio Manen, Ronaldo and De Jong for the best.
The Argentine may not have expected him to win the grand prize, as Van Dijk was named favorite to grab this trophy as well.
The Dutchman won the UEFA Player of the Year award last week, but was defeated by the Argentine for FIFA.
