Van Dijk: You can’t compare me to Messi
Virgil van Dijk has said he cannot compare to Lionel Messi who won the ‘The Best’ award from FIFA last night.
The Dutch defender was favored to grab that award, but the Argentine defeated him and Cristiano Ronaldo.
It seems Van Dijk is not so sad that he failed to win the award, saying after the ceremony that he should not be compared to the 32-year-old, as they are different.
“People have made their choice and voted for the best and you have to accept it,” the Dutchman said.
“That was and you can’t compare me to Messi because it’s completely different. I’m very proud to be here, “Van Dijk said.
Messi had a season not to be forgotten individually, until he scored the most goals and made the most assists in the previous edition.
