Zidane admits his tactical changes made Real Madrid fail against Sociedad
Zinedine Zidane has admitted that his tactical changes were not as successful as he had hoped in Real Madrid’s draw against Real Sociedad.
Zidane decided to play with three players on defense in the second half, which Sociedad took advantage of by taking the lead through Cristian Portus.
Real Madrid managed to equalize the score to 1: 1 in the last moments of the match through Vinicius Junior.
But this draw means that the reigning champions now remain in third place, with points equal to Barcelona but five points behind leaders Atletico Madrid, who have played one game less than their title rivals.
“I changed the tactics because I did not like the pressure that the team was doing,” said Zidane after the match.
“It only happened 10 or 15 minutes because we changed tactics again and started playing better with the 4-3-3 scheme,” he added.
Asked if the tactical change hurt Real Madrid, Zidane said: “Yes, maybe.”
